Stoked about Scrappin!

I'm so stoked! I just got an e-mail from Scrapscene that they will be featuring my Valentine's day Project tomorrow! I love to scrap and I love sharing my ideas with others, everyone needs a little inspiration every once in awhile.

What will be next?
Stay tuned for my next project...An Inauguration Layout!
I haven't quite figured out what I'm going to do yet, but all of the hoopla has got me excited! Before Obama was elected one of my most successful items on Ebay was my two page layout titled: Change, my favorite thing about this layout is the democratic logo which I drew by hand and cut out to paper piece, all work is hand crafted! And you know since I shared my Obama page...I have to share my McCain page...which was also featured and sold on Ebay:

Valentine's Day Mailbox

I've seen some altered mailboxes in galleries and thought what a great idea, so I decided to make one of my own. The days have been busy and a trip to Target for the already made mailbox was out of the question. So I used an old snack box cut it up and made it a triangle, so its a triangle mailbox. I will be giving this to my fiance to put in his office, we work together and it will be fun to sneak notes, cards and goodies in there throughout the beginning of February up until Vday. I decided that a fluffy pink red flowery mailbox just wouldn't do, so I tried to add some masculinity by drawing on flames and tracing them with glitter puff glue, I'm thrilled with the results.

Valentine's Day Mini Scrapbook

1/15/09

I have been madly perusing the web lately and found another blogger that had a challenge to re-use something (recycle) and turn it into a scrapbook creation, however, forgot to write down which blog site it was, so if you're out there and reading this please let me know so I can give you credit. :-) I had many ideas of things to recycle like: diaper box, cereal box, olive can, the list could go on...When I went to Starbucks and used my last few dollars on my gift card sparks went flying. I came up with the idea to make a gift card mini album. With Valentine's Day right around the corner my relationship become the subject and the rest is history! I hope some of you get inspired to make you're own and share with me your result.

Quick overview for Re-creation:
  1. Gather 8 gift cards (more or less if you wish)
  2. Cover the gift cards with sized pieces of cardstock or patterned paper, so that card is completely covered. (I wrapped them and then placed a cover over wrapped edges)
  3. Punch two holes in the top (can punch holes however you wish, can be done different ways depending on what outcome you would like)
  4. Decorate each individual page (For my album I decided to title it Love and each page inside is a synonym for the word Love, on the backside of each page is that synonyms definition.)
  5. Add each page to book rings and whaaa laaa - you have a Mini Gift Card Scrapbook Album!
Some of the materials used:
  • K & CO - Brenda Walton Sweet Talk
  • K & CO - Brenda Walton Pillow Stickers
  • American Crafts Premium Ribbon
  • Pebbles Inc Word Charms
  • Rhinestones
  • Memory Stor tape runner

Contests and Publications

1/13/09

I have been drowning myself in search after search for design team calls and publication opportunities, in the process came across www.scrapscene.com, which is a great resource for fellow scrapbookers looking to do the same.

My slogan for my scrapbooking business is Eat, Scrap & Sleep, and last night after winding down from Internet submission chaos I even dreamt about scrapbooking....so I think my new slogan should be: Eat, Scrap, Sleep & Dream about Scrapbooking. The good news is I got on a design team in my dream...so maybe its a sign. Most deadlines for calls are this month, so in February I look forward to the opportunities that will arise and all of this maddening searching on the Internet will be a success... in that I will be able to blog and post about the new paper line or company I represent.

I know it takes time and many submissions for publication or design team status, however, I am very confident in my skill and creativity of scrapping and this is MY Year!
Wish me luck!

The first day of the rest of my scrapblogging life

1/12/09

The past few weeks have been consumed by relentless pursuit on the net for scrapbook contests as I look for design team and publication opportunities. In the process I have seen so many blogs that have in turn inspired me to do the same. I hope you enjoy my site and look forward to getting to know the rest of those scrapbook addicts that have made their scrapbook endeavors a success through published work and design team accomplishments.

This blog is dedicated in loving memory to Carole Schumacher.
